Tired of fighting with Sun about its rights to use the Java programming language the way it sees fit, Microsoft is reported to be dropping Visual J++ 6.0 and according to MS sources, dropping VJ++ from the next release of Visual Studio 7 which is due out next year.

Dan lives a quiet life in the bustling city of Milwaukee, WI. Although he founded what would become evolt.org in 1998, he's since moved on to other projects and is now the owner of Progressive Networks, a Zimbra hosting company based in Milwaukee.

According to the Visual Studio Product Manager, MS are not selling VJ++ after all.

Just to prove that there are lies, damned lies and Microsoft announcements, TheRegister has a story showing that:
  1. J++ will not be part of Visual Studio.NET
  2. MS will sell a Java tool from Rational, the company at the centre of the selloff rumours last December
Observant readers will notice that this the exact opposite of MS's stated position up until now.
